Colombia's International Role: Successes and Challenges

Over recent years, Latin America’s third largest economy has embarked on an ambitious agenda of diplomatic cooperation and economic engagement.

Join Colombia’s Foreign Minister, María Ángela Holguín, for an interactive discussion on the successes achieved and challenges faced by the Colombian Government.

María Ángela Holguín has a distinguished career in diplomacy and an extensive experience in the public and private sectors. She served as a Permanent Representative of Colombia to the UN in New York and was Ambassador to Venezuela.

She was Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, Regional Director for Latin America of the Worldview International Foundation and Advisor to the President of the Andean Development Corporation (CAF). She was also a member of the UN Secretary-General's High-Level Panel of Eminent Persons on the Post-2015 Development Agenda.

She has a degree in Political Sciences (Andes University), and holds a postgraduate degree on Diplomacy and Strategy from the Centre d´Études Diplomatiques et Stratégiques (CEDS, Paris, France).

This event is jointly organised by the Permanent Mission of Colombia to the UN, the Graduate Institute and the Latin American Network Initiative, a student group at the Institute.

It will be held in English, with questions possible in English, French or Spanish.
